When I was a child, I saw a mouse unlike any I've seen since. he stood tall on his hind legs, his tiny hands folded, with ears so large and round they looked almost too big for his head. he wasn't darting away or scurrying underfoot. He just...paused. Poised and curious. Almost as if he was thinking.
That little mouse stayed with me all these years, and became the inspiration for Johnathan Rhodes Fieldmouse--a proper English field mouse with manners, imagination, and a heart full of adventure.
Now, just
so you know: field mice are different from the garden or house mice you might know. They're rounder, with warmer-colored fur and shorter tails. But Johnathan is different still-- a bit of both worlds, perhaps. A mouse who stands tall, looks you in the eye, and dreams big.
As you read, picture him not as any ordinary mouse, but as the mouse I saw once in a lifetime, who inspired a lifetime of stories.
